I’m working on more tutorials. The first two are already uploaded to Google Video.

Although I originally posted the first one on YouTube as well, I was spammed within one week by ickly people, so I deleted my account. I’ve since also posted the video on Yahoo Video and AOL’s video posting as well. I still need to post the second one on those systems.

Update: Since Google took over YouTube, the spam is easy to report. I have opened a channel with these videos on YouTube. Username SewMarm. You can subscribe here to my RSS, or to my YouTube channel.

Please let me know what other tutorials are really important for you to get going on your Singer sewing machine.

    To whom it may concern,

I am a beginner at sewing but the prime purpose for me to use my machine is to alter my clothes, primarily skirts and trousers that are too long, or too big for me. (my size is always an in-between and never available).

Please can you show us some videos on how to use the machine to open up garments and alter them.

    Very much appreciated,

    Varsha

Hi, Would you make a video showing how to sew in a zipper? I have the same model sewing machine you do..a Singer 3430. I learned how to do my first buttonholes with your tutorials and found you very easy to understand and learn from. It would be a big help. Thanks so much!

    Hi Chelly,
I’ve been trying to get up to that one! There are a couple of different ways to sew in a zipper. Truth is that I most often do an “invisible” zipper. I found a video of it on YouTube, and highly recommend that one. I do plan on making one, though, as I use that cute little invisible zipper foot that came with the machine.

    Dontcha just love this machine!

I have a very old singer portable…at least it is a lot smaller than the machines of today. I believe it was made in the late 40s early 50s. I got it from my mom in the late 60s. I use it now and then but haven’t used it in quite a while and have forgotten how to thread it. It doesn’t look like the one in the video. solid black with gold leaf a lot of the metal parts. No plastic on this baby! I don’t remember it being too hard to thread but I stare at it now and just can’t seem to figure it out. Although it is small it weighs about 10-15 pounds. Can you help me???

I have a Singer Model 319W with the original manual. I could make a copy of the manual if any one needs one. This is a great machine!

I have a singer 328k and when I try to loosen the wheelinside the handwheel to thread a bobbin, the needle still moves up and down.

  11. sewingbee — July 20, 2010 @ 5:27 am

Sometimes it takes quite a bit of strength to loosen the wheel. I accidentally broke the middle of mine recently trying to loosen it with a wrench. ;( . Hope you can get someone strong to help you.

I really need a manual for a 319 singer machine if anyone can help me out.

Try the Singer site: http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html . Search for 319, and there’s a $15 manual available.
