Likes
It's pretty. A walking foot with an edge cutter foot is included, for overcasting and trimming seams. One Amazon reviewer praised the manual. Not even Singer usually has good user manuals. Very steady even stitching.
Dislikes
There are differing reports about how well the machine does on multiple layers of denim and other heavy duty jobs. Other than that, there isn't much to dislike about this machine.

Summary
A basic machine with more options than the 1409 Promise, including 1-hole buttonhole function and top drop-in bobbin. It's rare to find a 1-hole buttonhole function on a basic mechanical machine. If you want a good mechanical machine with more than just the absolute basics but not tons of options you'll never use, this one is a top choice.
