This is another winner for beginner machines. Most reviews are positive for this model. For a basic machine you can purchase online for less than $150, this is in the running. Only having to deal with a front loading bobbin lowers our rating.

This is an entry level machine with very basic features. If you're looking for something small and basic, without a large investment, this is a good model. Previous years found Singer entry level machine seriously lacking, but reviews on Amazon, JoAnn, and other sites are generally positive that this little machine is back to the workhorse we expect from Singer.

Likes

It does what it needs to without breaking the bank. Even beginners can be up and running in little time. Singer made the move back to metal frames even for entry level mechanical sewing machines. This means your machine doesn't bounce all over and is made to last. One review on Amazon claims to be an engineer and approved of the machine engineering.

Dislikes

This front loading style of bobbin is in our opinion harder to load properly. If you don't load your bobbin properly your thread will stick and be difficult to pull up. For about $50 more you can get more decorative stitches to play with.
